PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS 1. OptiSchool This program is designed to teach ASL to D/HH children, their parents/siblings, and hearing children. The ASL lessons are accompanied by a dictionary which the user can download and make into a dictionary and/or coloring book. The lessons are FREE. People making a donation to the Foundation receive FREE access to the dictionary. 2. Manipulative Visual Language (MVL)
This is an instructional tool that allows children to "see" the English language. It is a new and innovative introduction to the education of Deaf children that is proving to have remarkable results in helping D/HH children master the intricacies of the English language.3. ASL Children's BooksThese are popular children's books in which ASL has been added to the pages. The books are those that we have received permission to modify. The web-based ASL Books are free and parents can purchase the original books from our bookstore. 4. On-Line ASL Courses and CEU's (coming soon) These on-line instructions are for people who work in the field of D/HH such as audiologists and speech pathologists, interpreters, and general business people. People who make a donation to the Foundation receive a FREE one-year access to the instructional lessons.5. Parent Education Parent education is provided FREE to parents of D/HH children. Just send us an email and a qualified member of our staff will respond. Your question and answer will be posted on our FAQ. Here is what Michael Clair, President of Western States College, had this to say about our programs:
"Dr. Ramos has a clear and defined vision that will no doubt make this project happen in a big way. The best part of the program is that it will be made available for FREE to those who cannot afford to attend a classroom or do not have the access to such a program. This is truly a humanitarian cause that will leave the world a better place for Deaf [and hard of hearing] people in our communities.”
As with any humanitarian cause, we can only do as much as finances will allow. If the programs we are offering have been helpful to you, your family, family members, and your D/HH child, please consider making a donation to the Angel Ramos Foundation so we can continue helping others.
